About Threads of Discovery

Threads of Discovery began with a family searching for something different. They wanted homeschooling to feel warm and welcoming, to spark curiosity, invite big questions, and bring the whole family together to learn. But finding a curriculum that truly reflected their values, needs, and worldview proved nearly impossible.

Instead of settling, they decided to create their own. They reached out to other secular homeschooling families who wanted the same thing and consulted with educators and child development specialists to design a curriculum that would work for diverse learners. From there, they built a team of writers and designers to bring Threads of Discovery to life.

Each unit takes families on a shared learning journey, where ideas build on each other and connect across subjects. The goal is to help learners see the bigger picture, understand how everything relates, and experience the joy of learning side by side.

Threads of Discovery is a secular, family-style homeschool curriculum created to inspire curiosity, connection, and critical thinking. We believe learning is best experienced together, with subjects woven into big-picture themes that show how science, history, geography, and culture are interconnected. Our approach is inclusive and respectful of diverse backgrounds and beliefs, encouraging students to ask meaningful questions, seek evidence, and develop their own perspectives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What subjects are included?
Everything but math. Our Student Discovery Notebooks include science, social studies, ethics, health, life skills, and creative thinking. Each purchase also includes the optional ELA add-on, which covers reading, writing and grammar at all ages and stages from Pre-K through Grade 12.

Is this religious?
No. Threads of Discovery is fully secular. It’s written to be respectful and inclusive for all families.

How many student notebooks do I need?
That depends on how many children you’re teaching. Each child should have one level. You can buy individual levels or get a Large Family License that gives you access to them all.

Can I use this in a co-op?
Yes. Every family must buy their own copy, but co-ops with three or more families can receive a discount code for 10 percent off. Contact us to receive your own code!

Is this printable?
Yes. Everything is delivered as a digital PDF file. You can print it at home or send it to a printer.

Do you offer refunds?
No. Because this is a digital product, all sales are final.

At Threads of Discovery, we believe learning should feel like a journey, not a race. That’s why we’ve designed a level system that reflects where your child is developmentally, not just what grade they’re in.

Our curriculum is structured into seven stages, each designed to grow with your family from early learning through graduation. These levels allow multiple children to learn together while still receiving age-appropriate challenges and support.

Each of our seven levels has a name that reflects a stage of learning, not just a number or letter. This helps families feel free to choose what’s right for each child without the pressure of grade labels or comparison.

What If My Child Is Behind or Ahead?

Threads of Discovery is designed to support real families, not perfect checklists. We know that children with learning differences, asynchronous development, or unique learning styles don’t always align with traditional grade expectations.

Instead of grade numbers on the front of their books, your child will see a meaningful level name that reflects progress and potential, not pressure. You’re free to choose the level that fits best and adjust as needed. Growth matters more than comparison.
