Wild Wonders Single Student Digital Bundle
Details
Wild Wonders is the first of six units from Year 1 of Threads of Discovery. This full curriculum covers everything except math*, combining science, social studies, health, character and ethics, creative thinking, logic and reasoning, and life skills into one cohesive learning experience.
*During this Year 1 launch, our optional English Language Arts student notebooks for every level are included at no additional cost.
Overview
This option is designed for families purchasing for one student. At checkout, you will select your student’s English Language Arts (ELA) level, and we will automatically include the matching Discovery Notebook for that same level. You will receive one Teacher’s Guide, one Discovery Notebook, and one English Language Arts notebook: everything your student needs to complete the Wild Wonders unit at their grade level.
Wild Wonders invites you and your student to explore the incredible diversity of habitats and wildlife across the planet, from forests and grasslands to deserts, mountains, oceans, and beyond. You will discover how animals adapt and survive, the relationships that connect predators and prey, and the powerful roles played by keystone species, pollinators, and ecosystem engineers. Your family will also learn how human activity impacts wildlife and habitats, explore Indigenous knowledge of conservation, and discover solutions like rewilding and restoration. The unit ends by inspiring students to take action, showing that even small steps can make a difference for the future of our planet.
Discovery Notebook Subjects
Each day, students work in their Discovery Notebooks to build skills across science and social studies. In addition, they complete one rotating enrichment page each day, cycling through health, character and ethics, creative thinking, logic and reasoning, and life skills. Older students (Scholars through Navigators) complete two pages per day for science and social studies plus one rotating enrichment page. Younger students (Explorers through Pathfinders) complete three pages per day, one each for science, social studies, and the rotating enrichment subject, with age-appropriate, hands-on activities designed for engagement and confidence building.
Spotlight Pages and Animal Flashcards
Wild Wonders includes optional Spotlight pages designed to add depth and flexibility to your learning. The first few Spotlight pages introduce the classification of plants and animals in an easy-to-understand way. After that, students explore unique places and landforms around the world, with each location featuring an average of two highlighted animals adapted to that region. To support hands-on learning, the unit also includes a set of printable animal flashcards. Each card shows the animal’s name, scientific name, classification, and photo on the front, with fast facts, ecosystem roles, and “Who Am I” game prompts on the back. These cards encourage memory-building, interactive play, and a fun, tactile way to connect with the animals studied throughout the unit.
ELA Focus
In English Language Arts, Early Explorers focus on one letter each week to build early recognition and fine motor skills. Early Literacy Explorers review the alphabet and begin learning to decode words. Beginning with Adventurers Level 1, students complete age-appropriate reading comprehension, writing, and grammar lessons. Pathfinders through Navigators complete two writing projects in this unit, a personal narrative and a short fictional story, while strengthening grammar and editing skills.
