Threads of Discovery Group Licensing

Teach one shared theme across your whole group while students work at the level that fits them best.

Threads of Discovery is a secular, multi-subject, interdisciplinary unit study curriculum for Pre-K through Grade 12. It was designed so learners of different ages can explore the same central theme together while completing work at the level that fits them best, making it a natural fit for microschools, co-ops, hybrid programs, learning pods, and one-room learning environments.

One Shared Topic + Multiple Levels = Less Planning

Mixed-age learning can be beautiful, but it can also be hard to plan. Threads of Discovery helps group leaders gather students around one shared theme without needing to create a separate curriculum for every age or ability level.

The facilitator leads the group through discussion, activities, exploration, and shared learning using the Discovery Guide. Students then complete levelled work at home, during independent work time, or in small groups.

The rhythm is simple:

Gather together, explore together, then let each student work at the right level.

Who It’s For

Threads of Discovery group licensing is designed for:

  • microschools

  • homeschool co-ops

  • secular learning communities

  • hybrid homeschool programs

  • learning pods

  • one-room schoolhouse-style groups

  • enrichment programs

  • multi-age classes

If your group includes students at different ages or levels, Threads of Discovery can help you teach from one shared theme while still giving each learner work that fits.

How Groups Can Use Threads of Discovery

Co-op or class time can be used for shared lessons, discussion, hands-on activities, experiments, map work, creative responses, presentations, and group exploration.

Families or students can then complete levelled workbook pages outside the group meeting time. This keeps the group connected through a shared topic while allowing each student to work at an appropriate depth.

A typical co-op rhythm might look like this:

During Co-op Time At Home or Independent Work Time
Shared lesson from the Discovery Guide Levelled student pages
Group discussion Reading or research
Hands-on activity Writing or notebooking
Project work Family extensions
Student sharing Optional deeper study

Why It Works for Mixed-Age Groups

One shared theme
Everyone studies the same topic, which keeps the group connected.

Levelled student work
Students work on content that meets them where they're at, instead of all being forced into the same assignment.

Flexible pacing
Use a unit over 4, 6, 8, or 12 weeks depending on your schedule.

Built for real-life multi-age learning
Useful for co-ops, microschools, and groups where one adult is guiding multiple learners.
